Maiden flight of Ilyushin Il-112V

Today the Ilyushin Il-112V light transport made it's first flight at the VASO manufacturing plant in Voronezh. No issues were reported by the test pilot, Nikolai Kuimov.

The development of this model was stopped in 2011, when it was decided to acquire An-140T instead. After the crisis with Ukraine the Russian government reactivated the development. The most complex issues revolve around the engines. The Klimov TV7-11ST is not currently in service, and it was necessary to upgrade it before mounting in the Il-112V.

Competition in this segment of aviation is going to be fierce. There are at least 3-4 models from different countries: An-132, An-140T (*), C295 and now Il-112V. C-27J has also been offered as a light cargo aircraft.
