First photos of Kuwait's EF-2000

The first 2 EF-2000 built for Kuwait Air Force have been seen at Leonardo’s Caselle plant near Turin, Italy. in 2016 this country signed a contract for 28 (22 single seat and 6 twin seaters) for  €7.957 billion ($9.062 billion). The variant is considered the most advanced, being Tranche 3 and equipped with a Mk 0 AESA radar.

Eurofighter has had a bumpy road before deliveries. Kuwait's parlament decided to investigate the contract because the cost was judged to be too high, and there were delays due to radar integration and covid.

Kuwait confirms Eurofighter EF-2000 contract

Kuwait has signed a contract with Finmeccanica to acquire 28 EF-2000 for an estimated 7-8 billion euros. The Typhoon had been selected a few months ago but the contract had not been formally signed.

This new contract is a boost for the Eurofighter consortium, as the extra aircraft will lead to more work and financing to integrate new equipment.

Kuwait is also keen on acquiring another 28 F-18E/F, but the contract has not been signed yet. The Air Force currently operates 27 F/A-18C.
