YPG attack on a Turkish M60 (5-2-2018)

One of my blog's readers (:yomismo_ ) sent me this video showing a YPG attack on a Turkish M60 Patton. The vehicle is in a static position providing overwatch, and is probably hit by a Konkurs or Fagot AT missile. The attack was filmed in Buka, Barbul district.

Syrian T-72 hit by AT missile

4-2-2017

More photos of the tank. According to the blog WithinSyriaBlog the crew was ok but the vehicle sustained heavy damage in the driver's area, and will be used as a source of spares.

28-2-2017

A rebel group in Syria has published this video showing a Syrian Army T-72 getting hit by an AT missile, probable a Fagot or Konkurs. It is not clear if the vehicle was manoeuvring or getting into a position. The crew seems to have detected a threat before the impact. As the video stops suddenly it is assumed that the tank did not detonate.

Contracts between United Arab Emirates and Russia

United Arab Emirates (UAE) has signed an agreement with Rosoboronexport for the supply of 5000 AT missiles. So far there are no details on the type, but it could be Kornet-E. The contract is worth 708 million $ and includes support and training.

An agreement on the development of a light 5° generation fighter aircraft has been signed. Sukhoi and MiG would provide designs for the type, which will be single engined. RSK MiG has been privately developing a 5° generation fighter aircraft, but the latest concepts were 2 engined.

Su-35 in Syria (Sputnik).

Finally, negotiations are ongoing about a Sukhoi Su-35 sale. I would find this very surprising because UAE is supposed to be very close to acquire Dassault Rafale. The Mirage 2000-9 operated by the Air Force could be part of this deal.

Islamic State has published a video with another attack to a Turkish tank. As in previous occasions, it took place in the al-Bab area. The images show the launching of a 9K111 Fagot AT missile and how it hits the front armour of a M60T tank. The Lepard 2 next to it reverses and takes cover behind the turn.

Then an Otokar Cobra vehicle is sent. It is also hit by an AT missile. According to the information available, the M60T crew did not suffer injuries. Two passengers in the Cobra were injured. In this link the video can be seen.

Two Leopard 2 tanks attacked by AT missiles in Syria

ISIS has published another attack on Turkish Leopard 2 tanks. Both vehicles are in a position when hit by AT missiles. The sequence is shown below. The second vehicle comes worst as the ammunition explodes and causes a fire.

Leopard 2s have not been operating for long, but 3 have already hit by missiles. It is almost as if they were expected and ambushes were prepared.
